Hallandale Beach is a suburb of Fort Lauderdale with a population of 41,102. Hallandale Beach is in Broward County.. Gulfstream Park
Gulfstream Park, the long-time leader in horse racing action from South Florida is no stranger to fans of thoroughbred games and commenced way back in 1939. The complex keeps the action up year-round with events dating back as far as the 1940s. A highlight of the season in late January is the Pegasus World Cup Invitational Stakes, which has a purse of $3 million. It also boasts a luxurious four-story clubhouse anchored by the track featuring casino-style slots and electronic table games, restaurants,bars, an 800-seat theater and posh VIP suite. Next door, The Village at Gulfstream Park opened in 2010.
South City Beach Park
Known as one of the two public beach access points in Hallandale Beach, this park got a major overhaul during the 2010s. South City Beach Park is a great place for communing and features a beachfront concession cafe, playground, open-air pavilion with tables/water fountains/bbq grill/restrooms/showers; bocce ball courts & volleyball court. The main focus, however, is the beach – always immaculate and with a very wide swathe of golden sand. The park has a series of live music and is currently open from December through April with activities like beach front yoga.
The village of gulfstream park
Opening in 2010, this Mediterranean revival styled mixed-use development is home to over half a million square feet of space. Is an exclusive community that would not feel out of place in any sophisticated city, boasting boutiques, galleries and design & home homeware shops as well as elegant services. Strike 10: The upscale indoor entertainment center with bowling, mini-bowling, billiards and a video arcade also features cocktail service at the bar for 50 feet across — along with hookah lounge options. Aventura Mall
Aventura Mall: A shopping mecca in the U.S., it’s just down the street from Hallandale Beach. More than 300 world-class retailers since 1983 Luxury at its finest. Retailers carrying the high-end luxury goods offered include Hermès, Valentino, Rolex, and Chanel. In one corner, there is a shopping mall with an array of eateries and over 20 sculptures that could easily go into a museum.
Hollywood Beach Boardwalk
Just up the coast from South City Beach Park is where the iconic Hollywood Beach Boardwalk begins. This 2.5-mile-long brick promenade offers white sand and swaying palms, perfect for a laid-back but sunny walk or biking down to CityPlace as the sun sets over downtown West Palm Beach. The route includes more than 50 restaurants, 30 boutiques and three resorts, as well as three parks and close to nearly thirty small lodging hotels. Throughout the day, joggers share it with rollerbladers and people on bikes.
Oleta River State Park
Just 10 minutes down the road, it’s Florida’s biggest urban park over 1,000 acres that keep the endless shorefront condo buildings in check. This peaceful maze of mangroves, wild vegetation and swampland is ideal for things to see and do like mountain biking adventures or simply go out on a canoe. There are 15 miles of trails winding in between the woods, and mountain bikes or tandem bicycles will be available for rent at the Oleta River Outdoor Center. You can actually paddle through the mangroves and get an amazing feel of what it was once like with over 6 million people around you!! The Cove on Biscayne Bay may as well be a kiddie pool for its shallow waters.
North City Beach Park
Located just a few moments from South City Beach Park Hallandale beach, this public park has more private coached areas and the famous water tower. The beach here has a pronounced slope that steepens rapidly, and boogie boarding is prevalent (children must be watched very carefully). The other amenities offered are: a volleyball court, restaurant, showers and restrooms.
Tidal Cove Water Park
Tidal Cove, a part of the JW Marriott Miami Turnberry Resort & Spa is open to guests and non-guests alike for an entire day of fun. On Boomerango, family rafts shoot up a near-vertical wall and cruise back down while the Aqua Drop hurls riders into a portal for an exhilarating journey below; for thrill seekers there is also Wizard — Asia’s first 360° loops waterslide. Kids Cove features an interactive water playground and a long lazy river. For greater privacy, the park offers a choice of 25 cabanas.
Curci House
Bought by the city in 2007, this grand old mansion is a remnant of Hallandale Beach’s days when things were obviously slower. The Italian Renaissance-style retreat built in 1924 by Frank and Rosina Curci. The house has imported Cuban tiles, Italian colored glass hardware and Dade Pine floors. It then sheltered local residents in the aftermath of the 1926 Miami Hurricane. Curci House was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2014 after it had been renovated. Visits are by appointment, but there is a beautiful light display during Christmas.
The Big Easy Casino
Originally called Hollywood Greyhound Track, The Big Easy Casino sprouted slot machines and a poker room over the years beginning in the 2000s. The track held its last live greyhound race in 2018, and now the casino features more than 70,000 sq ft of gaming space that includes a selection of over 900 slots as well as tables for poker (over two dozen) at any given time. There is also a racetrack which broadcasts many races throughout North America via simulcast, and hosts live racing from Belmont Race Track on big race days.
